I have been looking forward to this part of our trip, because my Mother’s side of my family has very strong Scottish Heritage and my grandmother instilled in me her love of everything Scottish from Border Terriers to Kilts. We took the train up to Edinburgh to explore the city and take on the countryside. I think it goes without saying, I took hundreds of photos- but my newest models were the Scottish sheep. So while an Edinburgh city is intriguing …The Scottish countryside will take center stage today. You can just feel the sea breeze in the photo of the two of us! A little background on this photo- we were looking for a castle and ended up in a farmers sheep field. The sheep were just as confused as we were.
This is an incredibly fun city. A place that takes its history seriously, and its stories even more so. The Scot’s have some of the most complex history I’ve come across this entire trip, mainly due to the number and versions of each fact. It makes for a fascinating city. We have started to take the city tour bus that you can hop on and off at any stop or ride the whole way around the city as the audio recording points out historical places. It is a perfect way to get a feel for a city in a very short amount time. We did the same type of tour in Barcelona and it really brings each city alive.
A couple unique things we did- went to a comedy club called, The Stand and checked out this odd little museum called, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions. Both highly recommended!
You know those dreams you have and you think- “No, we couldn’t… Not now… Maybe later.” This year Justin and I moved 5 times. (I know- it was kind of crazy!) We learned so much about each other, our dreams and what ‘home’ means to us. Those dreams and ideas that seemed so big and scary at one time, really don’t any more. We just were talking one night and asked ourselves – why not now?
So for the next two months we will be adventuring around Italy, Spain, Switzerland, France and the UK. Thank you to all the family members and friends who encouraged us! We could not ask for a better support team!
